New year, new research in bigger facilities
In 2011 our goal is to gather even more knowledge for our customers. Therefore the test capacities for research will be expanded. Practical tests on feed, breeds and managements-techniques will then be possible in a newly equipped barn with flocks of 400-800 birds. In addition another barn in our well-proven test farm will be furnished with small pens to get more space for direct comparison of treatments.
Thus we will dispose of four barns, in which both by statistically proper interpretation in pens and by practical tests in bigger groups all questions of modern turkey management may be answered.
In the new year we will still focus on latest developments in turkey breeding. Furthermore our research team will work on public topics such as footpad health, beak treatment and stocking rates.
Participation in a national research program on adaptation of German turkey husbandry to climate changes completes the Kartzfehn research program in 2011.
